THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD
1. THE SPIRIT OF GOD LEADS. Romans 8:14, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
2. THE SPIRIT OF GOD WITNESSES. Romans 8:16, "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"
3. THE SPIRIT OF GOD REVEALS. 1 Corinthians 2:10, "But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God."
A. He reveals the love of God on Calvary.
B. He reveals the need of a Saviour.
C. He reveals the penalty of Sin.
4. THE SPIRIT OF GOD INTERCEDES. Romans 8:26-27, "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
5. THE SPIRIT OF GOD INVITES. Revelation 22:17, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."
6. THE SPIRIT OF GOD INDWELLS US. 1 John 4:13, "Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit."
7. THE SPIRIT OF GOD SEALS US. Ephesians 4:30, "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
8. THE SPIRIT OF GOD POSSESSES. Revelation 1:10, "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,"
9. THE SPIRIT OF GOD SEPARATES US. Acts 13:2-3, "As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away."
10. THE SPIRIT OF GOD FORBIDS. Acts 16:6, "Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,"
11. THE SPIRIT OF GOD FILLS. Ephesians 5:18, "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"
12. THE SPIRIT OF GOD EMPOWERS. Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
13. THE SPIRIT OF GOD CAN BE GRIEVED. Ephesians 4:30, "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
14. THE SPIRIT OF GOD CAN BE QUENCHED. 1 Thessalonians 5:19, "Quench not the Spirit."
15. THE SPIRIT OF GOD CAN BE TEMPTED. Acts 5:9, "Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out."
16. THE SPIRIT OF GOD CAN BE RESISTED. Acts 7:51, "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye."
17. THE SPIRIT OF GOD CAN BE BLASPHEMED. Matthew 12:31-32, "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."
18. THE SPIRIT OF GOD TEACHES John 14:26, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." 1 John 2:27, "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."
19. THE SPIRIT OF GOD SEARCHES. 1 Corinthians 2:10, "But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God."
20. THE SPIRIT OF GOD GUIDES. John 16:13, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."
21. THE SPIRIT OF GOD BIRTHS US INTO THE FAMILY OF GOD. John 3:5, "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
22. THE SPIRIT OF GOD BRINGS TO OUR REMEMBRANCE. John 14:26, "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
23. THE SPIRIT OF GOD COMFORTS. John 14:16, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;"
24. THE SPIRIT OF GOD CONVICTS OR REPROVES. John 16:8, "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:"
25. THE SPIRIT OF GOD STRIVES WITH MAN. Genesis 6:3, "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years."
26. THE SPIRIT OF GOD WARNS. Hebrews 3:7-8, "Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:"
27. THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS A GIFT TO THE BELIEVER, JEW OR GENTILE. Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 10:44, "While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word."
28. THE SPIRIT OF GOD CANNOT BE BOUGHT. Acts 8:18-20, "And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money."
29. THE SPIRIT OF GOD QUICKENS. Romans 8:11, "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."
30. THE SPIRIT OF GOD OVERSHADOWS THE BIRTH OF CHRIST. Luke 1:35, "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." Matthew 1:20, "But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."
31. THE SPIRIT OF GOD DESCENDS AT THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST. Luke 3:22, "And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased."
